You will be writing a short research paper on a psychological disorder OR interviewing someone with a psychological disorder of some kind. This is due Wednesday December 6 at 5:00 p.m. Pick Option #1 or Option #2 below to do and then upload it here for grading.

OPTION #1

Psychological Disorder Short Research Paper (100 points) Due last day of class. December 6

Pick one of the psychological disorders in Chapter 15 and write a 2 page double spaced paper about that disorder. Use at least 4 resources such as books, articles, videos, professional journals and online resources, an interview with a person who has this, etc. to learn about the disorder. Your textbook can be included as one of the 4 resources. Include in the paper the following:

1. Name of disorder and symptoms of the disorder. (20 points)

2. Causes of this disorder? (25 points)

3. Risk factors for those that have this disorder? (25 points)

4. Treatments for this disorder. (Medication, type of therapy if this is indicated to help (see chapter 16 for types of therapy), hospitalization, 12 step groups like Alcoholic Anonymous etc.?) (25 points)

5. Include in the paper citations when you quote and add a Reference list at the end of the paper of 4 sources you have used. Use APA formatting for your citations and reference list. (5 points)

OPTION #2 Interview a person with a Psychological Disorder (100 points) Due Wednesday December 6 at 5:00 p.m.

Write a two page double spaced paper on an interview you do with a person with a psychological disorder. Do NOT include the name of the person and change information so as to keep their information confidential. Let the person know what the assignment is about and that their information will be changed so that their identity will not be disclosed. If you cannot meet the individual in person, you can call or face time with the person to learn about them and the disorder they are dealing with. Do NOT just email a person to get the information!! Include in the write up the following:

1. What is the psychological disorder how did the person discover he/she had this disorder? (20 points)

2. What are the symptoms the person has with this disorder? (20 points)

3. a.)Who has been the most helpful in dealing with this disorder? b). What kinds of treatments has the person had that has helped him/her? Medication, therapy, special education on the topic, etc. (20 points)

4. How has this affected his/her life or his/her family etc. in a negative way? Has there been any positive about having this disorder? (20 points)

5. After the interview what 2 things did you learn from person dealing with this disorder? What did you learn about how to respond or help people with this disorder? (20 points)
