Beck- Discussion #3

Hey everyone,
After taking the online test my results were: Extraversion at 63%, Openness to Experience at 59%, Conscientiousness at 60%, Agreeableness at 62%, Neuroticism at 68%. Analyzing my results made me realize I was greatly more emotionally driven than I originally realized. I am aware that I do usually become angry easily, however, I have not considered how emotionally driven my actions can be if under the right conditions. I was surprised about how low my score for Agreeableness was. I do not do well in a team setting, however, I make it work the best I can; which is why the low score shocked me. I have the personal issue of dreading being proved wrong but I tend to hide that irrational emotion to make teams work.

I believe most people reach the levels of 'Love'. Despite the level being located in the direct middle of the hierarchy pyramid, love seems to be a physiological requirement; without love one will not feel that they have a true purpose which may result in death of motivation and desire for more. The major roadblock stopping most people from achieving "Self-esteem Needs" or "Self-Actualization Needs" is their negative self-image. "Self-esteem Needs" are mental needs that require a positive self-image and a sense of self-worth. Unfortunately, many people do not recognize their true potential, and instead, they hold themselves back with negative self-talk and self-deprecation. In other words, I do not believe people usually reach Self-Actualization because they are deprecating themselves instead of looking at whom they truly are.

I hope this insight was helpful,

Hello Timothy, I'm glad that you liked the test, and I think you did an amazing job explaining to us your point of view on this topic.

I agree with you on how most people reach the levels of "Love". Because I feel like love overall is very important for our mental development and how during life we face different kinds of love. I also agree on the self-esteem part, where people get it and realize what they are capable of when someone who shows them love is supporting them in all different kinds of ways.

Thank you for sharing these amazing insights with the class, and I really enjoyed it. I hope I will get to read a few more of your discussions.
