1. From reading the chapter on memory I learned that there are many ways to strengthen your memory. The ways include Rehearsal, chunking, Elaborative rehearsal, and Mnemonic devices. All of the techniques seem like they would work well, especially chunking. Chunking is by far my favorite and the most useful in real-world situations “Chunking is useful when trying to remember information like dates and phone numbers” (Spielman, p.275). This can be so useful for remembering crucial information such as social security, bank information, phone numbers whether for emergencies or personal use, addresses, driver's license number, and the list just goes on.

2. Growing up helping my dad and brothers with things has nurtured me. I’ve learned many things through hard work such as fixing things around the house, doing yard work, and working on electronics, especially computers. Just from watching, listening, and doing whatever I can, I’ve picked up on so many little things that are valuable. These things will probably save me some money down the road.

3. Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences was kind of confusing to me but, I believe my strength lies in Interpersonal-intelligence. I've always enjoyed helping others and wanted to watch people thrive into the best possible person. I really do believe in helping others emotionally. I think my weakness lies in Spatial intelligence. My spatial awareness is beyond bad along with my directional skills. I would probably get lost in the wilderness if I walked 10 feet in without anyone else. It’s pretty embarrassing.

Thank you for your time

Hi, Blair!

Your sharing was very sincere and insightful. Your understanding of memorization techniques as well as your particular preference for chunking techniques were clearly articulated, which demonstrated how deeply you think about what you are learning. Additionally, the practical skills you acquired through first-hand experience while growing up are invaluable and will save you time and money in the future.

Your self-assessment of Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences was also very interesting. You emphasized your strengths in interpersonal intelligence and your emotional obsession with helping others. At the same time, you candidly acknowledged your challenges in spatial intelligence, and this self-awareness is important.

Hello Blair!

I enjoyed reading through your opinions, you make some great points. However, the one that stuck out the most to me, was your answer to the first question. Chunking is definitely an incredibly helpful method to help our short-term memory as students and as people in general. I have found it to be a great assistance to me both, in and out of the school/academic setting. I also agree with your second answer. I touched on a very similar point in my discussion post. Nurturing environments help build our nature of us and allow us to have a better work ethic, and performance in all areas of life. Thank you for your opinions! Look forward to hearing more soon.
